Comic temptation

An exhibtion, curated by Fabio Santilli with the artistic direction of Antonio Mele Melanton, tracing the artistic and literary events of satire and charicature from the eighteenth to the twentieth centuries from the Marche region to Rome.
Created as part of the wide-ranging project “Comic Temptations”, the exhibition displays nearly one hundred and forty works, including oil paintings, drawings, writings and satirical verses by Roman dialect poets, not to mention the covers of various historical satiric journals. Timeless forms, expressive of thought and art, satire and caricature have evolved along with humans and society, reflecting in their style as in their contents the developments of history and of custom.
The project “The comic temptation”, devised and curated by Fabio Santilli and Melaton themselves, is supported by the Provinces of Macerata, Ascoli Piceno, and Rome in collaboration with the Municipalities of Ascoli Piceno, Comunanza, Fossombrone, Frascati, Grottamare, Macerata, Montelupone, Monte San Giusto, Rom and Tolentino and with the patronage of the Foundation of the Savings Bank of Ascoli Piceno, the Faculty of the Science of Communication at the University of Macerata – Academy of the Fine Arts of Macerata, the Order of the Journalists of la Marche, the Museum of Caricature of Tolentino and the Museum of Comic Illustration of Grottammare, and with the participation of the Local Tourist System of Terre dell'Infinito, the Local Tourist System of Monti Sibillini and with funding from the Foundation of the Savings Bank of the Province of Macerata, of the Marche Bank and of Contram.
