BURMA - Between Us Remember Me Always
Since 2004, Orit Drori has been to Birmania four times. His mission has been to see as much of this little-known country as possible.
Breathtakingly beautiful and extremely poor, much of the population still lives in appalling conditions. His photographic journey shows his growing fascination in recording scenes from the daily lives of ordinary people, especially when this involved those who are a bit different or who are usually ignored or forgotten about. These encounters all have a personal story behind them and which continue in time beyond that captured on film. There is nothing particularly startling in these moments but rather something intimate and private. Drori has tried to capture the hint of happier past-times in the reality of the present and the people of Birmania rewarded him on each of his trips with a series of unexpected emotions. The collection represents a very personal vision of a special photographic journey and one that does not aspire to portray a complete picture of the country.
